N.Y.E.

As we ring in the new year tonight we know many people have ideas of things they want to do or change in 2015. New Years resolutions have a bad rep because many people make them but never follow through. So this year instead of setting unrealistic resolutions, we decided to set some fun but realistic 2015 goals.

Print our goal sheet below and fill it in with what you want todo this next year. Remember not all of your goals have to be huge life changes, setting small, realistic goals can be just as rewarding.

See ya next year! :)

New Years Eve Prep

We always enjoy bringing in the New Year. Unlike most people we celebrate with our grandparents in a pretty low key manner. We have some yummy food, a little confetti, and a lot of fun board games.

This year we decided to start a new tradition. Instead of making our confetti out of perfectly good paper (or buying it)  we decided to use recycled paper. Over the past couple months we have been saving newspaper, written on paper, and print paper that had already served its purpose. As this this will be Noah's first New Years Eve, we thought we would start it by showing him how to bring in the new year in a fun but less wasteful way.

Even if you haven't been saving paper we're sure you can go around and collect used paper to make your confetti this year. If you have kids old enough, letting them help cut the confetti is also a fun activity for your family. And after New Years Eve you can sweep up the confetti and take it to be recycled with the rest of your paper!  Try it and start this new year off a little greener!

The Season of Giving

Christmas is a time when we can get really caught up in all of the materialistic things. Worrying about our children having all of the cool new things that they want and going way overboard.

I decided that even though Noah is too young to know what's going on or to even remember this Christmas that I wanted Jake and I to really set the tone for what Christmas will be like each year. I am sure that we will continue to adjust as years go by but I want to make sure that Noah knows the real reason for the season and that he doesn't need dozens of gifts to be happy.

I also decided that each year Noah is going to learn to give at Christmas time. I plan on each year, based on the number of gifts he gets at Christmas he will choose that many to donate to children that need them more than him.

We have already collected several toys that we plan to take and donate this week. He seems pretty happy about it. :)

Christmas Eve

Only one more day! And if you don't have all your presents, don't worry! We've seen first hand that Christmas Eve shopping is possible. Every year we have our family Christmas on Christmas Eve. And every year our goofy grandpa makes sure he HAS to go get his last gift for our grandma during Christmas Eve. We're pretty sure he does it just to get try and annoy our grandma, but it has quickly turned into a tradition. And he loves it so much, so we just let it happen. :)

So today w will be spending time with our family, eating yummy food, opening presents, and of course, our grandpa will be out shopping. :) We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve with your family or whomever you may be spending it with. And to anyone who is traveling, be safe!

Happy Christmas Eve!
